Sydney Lambert, 19, is a student at Nazareth College. She is a music education major who is incredibly passionate about music. However, Lambert is passionate about more than just that. Growing up, Lambert was raised Roman Catholic and made to believe that the term “witchcraft” was evil and wrong. Nevertheless, Lambert was incredibly fascinated by television shows depicting witches and magic. Thinking that there was no such thing as “real” witches, young Lambert would soon grow into a blossoming college student, ready to take on the world. However, she would soon come back into her younger self. Before coming to Nazareth, Lambert, “was raised Catholic.” However, even from a young age Lambert loved magic. “I was really into, like, magical T.V. shows,” Lambert says, “…it was just something that I was always like, vibing with.” Now that Lambert is on her own and has more freedom, she has come into her craft and began practicing. She says that witchcraft has changed her life.

Sydney Lambert, 19.

“I am way more open to other people’s views and political opinions now as well because at first when you’re raised roman catholic, you have a very narrow perspective… then when I got to Nazareth and I was more open to all of this, i was like ‘oh my God, there is so much more that you don’t know about.’” Lambert said when asked about how in particular it had changed the way she thought and reacted.

Upon speaking to one of Lambert’s good friends, who has chosen to stay anonymous, they said “Syd is one of the most amazing kind hearted people I know. The positive energy that she radiates is amazing and to think of her as anything else is crazy. Her being a witch doesn’t scare me in the slightest. Personally, I think that people are too quick to judge and if you’re scared just because of the word ‘witchcraft’ you should probably reevaluate. Syd is a ball of sunshine.”

Lambert says that if she had any advice for witches at any point in their practice it would be, “the thing about it is that there’s a lot of different ways you can practice so you should really hone into like your specific practices and pay a lot of attention to that.”
